Maitake mushrooms (Grifola frondosa)—also known as “Hen of the Woods”—are succulent and delicious. They are also one of the most popular and widely recognized medicinal mushrooms. A 55–70° F environment is needed for this kit. Simply unwrap and water once or twice a day. Clusters of Maitake will spring forth in 2–3 weeks. Once your first flush has been harvested, the Maitake Mushroom Patch™ must be transferred to an outdoor bed for subsequent fruitings, which can occur in 6–12 months.
